Abuelos prestados

We were shown around an almost-snowy Salamanca yesterday by one of the coolest old married couples ever. Exponents of the famous mediteranean hospitality and warmth (they wanted to meet us because their son knows somebody that knows somebody that knows one of the girls here), they walked with us in a freezing cold and explained us the meaning of the procession, the history of churches and the architectural details of the bridges over the river Tormes. The gentleman pulled out of his pocket coffee candies "para no tener frio" and they took us to a tapas place (the pinchos mistery was also revealed, they are tapas with a nick name :)) to have us taste musto and panceta. I hope someday they ll get back the love they diserve from their grandkids. They were too cool.

Pictures of this adventure will be posted later.

Edited for pics:

Rafa. He's actually 18, his body just doesn t know this:

People walk barefeet to thank the Lord (or the virgin) for a wish granted to them. The procession we saw it s one of the few where people don t also cover their faces. She  was beautiful:

The procession continues after nightfall, here is the cathedral next to the Rio Tormes:
